The last time I wrote a lockdown post was on day 14. Time flies when you're losing your mind. But as of today, we are captive no more! Today marks the first day of state capture level 4; a stipulation of mostly captivity with a few hours of freedom each day where people enthusiastically try to infect their neighbours with the virus.
As I approach my 6th month of pregnancy – ok I’m going to stop right there. 6th month of pregnancy? Everybody told me it would go quickly, but that’s just crazy. Only 3 more months til I can drink a bottle of wine and run 10km again.* These are genuine life goals.
A month ago I wrote about starting a new workout – the incredibly popular BBG (Bikini Body Guide) plan by Kayla Itsines, an instagram superstar who turned her passion for fitness and personal training into a worldwide phenomenon. She has inspired a fitness cult that now sees more than 3.7 million followers across the world.
I started a new workout yesterday called Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide, a workout plan that was introduced to me by my sister in law while we were visiting the family on our trip. It’s not that I’m unsatisfied with my current workout plan, but every now and then I like to shake things up and find new sources of inspiration.
I was at the gym yesterday doing a Grid class – have you ever done one? They are the shizzle! They combine high intensity toning and cardio exercises for 20 seconds per exercise in rounds of 6. The first 3 rounds you’re like yeah man, I Am The Terminator.
Ohhh my aching ankles. This past weekend I did the Bastille Day 15km trail run for the first time, and it was awesome. I love trail running and it’s something I unpack and dust off every winter, given that in summer I am usually too busy partying and drinking wine to keep my fitness consistent.
I have two rules that I follow religiously in my health journey – don’t let healthy be boring, and never stop drinking wine. This blog has been years in the making, mostly in my head. I have wanted to share my passion, my recipes and my very normal approach to being healthy for as long as I’ve been doing it, and I have been ‘writing’ blog posts mentally the whole time.
